Boatilus is a family-owned footwear brand founded in 2000 by Franco-Italian couple Nicolas and Angela Pelous — seventh-generation shoe manufacturers whose family heritage dates back to 1810.

From the outset, Boatilus has championed eco-responsible footwear. The brand uses biodegradable and recyclable materials, avoids harmful chemicals and incorporates recycled oyster shells into its soles — replacing up to 15% of traditional components. Every pair is 100% recyclable, as is the packaging, reflecting the brand’s commitment to circular fashion.
